  Mike Tang of Toronto has impressed me at the Canadian shows over the years with his expertise in turntable design and modification. At TAVES this year he was bubbling with enthusiasm for his new MTA (Mike Tang Audio) Dragon Dot Phono Maximizer. When he opened the CD jewel case in which they are packaged, it took me a moment to recognize what the tiny red and green doobies were.

Essentially, they are designed to quell micro vibrations in the phono cartridge when centered directly above the stylus either on the cartridge or the headshell. Each color offers a slightly different tuning effect. Price is $60 and Michael offers a "no questions asked, 30-day money-back guarantee." He tells me none have come back. I'm really looking forward to trying these. They could be a whole lot more affordable than a cartridge upgrade.
