World Premiere! Special April 1
Preview!
Look, I'll make this preview brief as spy photos and an advanced copy of their upcoming advertisement just hit my desk. While I'm bound to this desktop torture getting this story out fast, your music LPs soon will have a newfound freedom away from their homeward bondage. With vinyl LP sales experiencing double-digit growth, it appears that the LP is once again becoming a major force within the music industry. Furthermore, Rebeat has just announced their new high definition vinyl LPs via lacquers cut with a femto-laser (see March 17th Industry News update). World-renown electronics manufacturer Sozy will soon be selling their Wulkmun battery-powered portable record player. Playing both 33.3 and 45 rpm LPs, the Wulkmun looks to have a specially-developed laser-sensing physics-loading tonearm that ensures the perfect pressure of the needle to the LP surface.
Furthermore, we've learned that the Sozy Wulkmun will be the world's first audio component to include the aptX HD 24-bit Bluetooth chipset. Qualcomm Incorporated's next-gen technology can wirelessly stream 24-bit/48kHz. This 24-bit audio resolution is maintained by using an extra two bits in each of the four sub-bands of processing. This results in lower signal-to-noise ratio through the encode/decode cycle, thus making aptX HD ideal for use as part of a high-resolution audio solution. As reported within Enjoy the Music.com's January 13th update, aptX HD is available as part of the CSR8675 Bluetooth audio system-on-chip (SoC) platform which supports 24-bit audio end-to-end.
Being edge-of-the-art, the tonearm is 3D printed and the motor uses a new magnetically free-floating electro-coupled rotational technology. Alas, no other information was available as am curious about this motor design said to ensure speed stability of 0.003% while producing zero measurable noise due to there being virtually no contact points internally. What I have found out is that the platter's bearing is made with a newly engineered combination of laboratory-made diamond and some other substance that makes it three times the Mohs hardness of a natural diamond. There is no need for bearing assembly oil as Sozy's material engineers have machined it to a very precise 0.000314159mm, and then gave it a surface treatment of their proprietary ultra-slippery coating that is claimed to have a wear rating of 500,000 hours.
Of course Sozy's Wulkmun turntable provides the standard stereo output via RCA jacks and, being a battery-powered portable unit, includes headphone output. The RCA outs can either be 'Normal' where you'll need an RIAA stage, or you can take advantage of the built-in 'RIAA' phonostage via a selector switch on the bottom of the unit. We've heard that Sozy tested both belt and directly driven motor and found that belt drive gave the best overall sound plus offered the most benefits for portability. For the plinth and electronics housing, Sozy engineers labored for many months finding a combination that best suits the demands of portability. This includes careful analysis of stiffness-to-weight ratios whilst also ensuring weather and humidity resistance. The Wulkmun has a combination of specially-developed carbon fiber impregnated with Formula X, which is then covered in special dense Shakamaiya wood only available from the highest elevations on Mount Moinefpre'. This combination of materials ensures torsional strength in all dimensions while bringing visual beauty. By carefully handcrafting the Shakamaiya wood, it ensures each Sozy Wulkmun is a bespoke offering perfect for the most demanding enthusiast and stylista alike.
Known for using exotic, nearly unobtanium materials, Sozy was able to employ next-generation material scanning and chemically analyzed the world's only unmodified Stradivarius violin located within Italy. Since I have personally been in the presences of this very same violin, I can attest to both its authenticity and incredible beauty. Leaving no details to chance, Sozy carefully hand applies the exact same quality of layers of the lacquer as is found on a Stradivari violin! This both brings out the beauty of this very rare Shakamaiya wood, yet is also claimed to enable the Wulkmum to produce a richness and warmth in sound.
